Ventrilo Information

Hostname or IP: X
Port number: X

Ventrilo registration steps

1) Read the entire post below
2) Send an email as instructed with the information we need to complete your registration

Creep vent is a valued resource and we look to continue using it to its maximum potential. Therefore to resolve communication issues the following rules and guidelines apply.

By registering with Ventrilo you explicitly agree to these rules and may be registered by the vent administrators.
Benefits of being registered

  • You can speak on Ventrilo
  • If the server hits capacity, all guests will be booted to make room for registered users

Guidelines and Rules

1) Creep vent is primarily a battle communication mechanism, as such, all off-topic communications shall immediately cease at the first sign of a battle.

2) We expect all users to have a high degree of maturity. Limit outbursts and complaints. Additionally, if you are not a lead, do not talk over someone unless it's vitally important (and be respectful if you do so). Gauge how critical your information is and transmit if necessary, otherwise use /ooc or /ra.

3) Vent admins have the final say, if you are directed to do an action by a vent admin, do so immediately and without question. Complaints about Ventrilo admins can be sent through these forums to Mania in a PM, but follow their instructions when it comes to Ventrilo usage.

4) You must have a creep logged into the game to be on this vent server (use your main creep as your username, put alts you switch to in comment). Registered users are exempt from this rule but highly recommended.

5) You may not flip to a Freep/Freep Vent in the Ettenmoors within 30 minutes of logging off of the Ventrilo server and vice versa onto creep vent.

Penalty Structure:
Vent admins will globally mute or kick as necessary.

Permanent bans will be in place for significant repeated infractions or severe infractions (spying).

Ban appeal process is being drafted, so as it stands there are no ban appeals yet (just don't get banned).

Ventrilo Administrators

Your current ventrilo admins are (also send an email if interested in becoming an Admin):

  • Mania
  • Grizlark

Please message any of them if you have any questions or concerns.

If you agree to the guidelines above please send an email to mania.landroval@gmail.com with the following information:

  • Desired Vent Username
  • Desired Ventrilo Password
  • Current Tribe
  • Status in Tribe (officer or member)

Voice Normalization
Vent Normalization makes every bodies voice the exact same volume. In essence, you won't blow your ear's out or have difficulty hearing people.

Here's how:

- Go to Setup

- Enable Direct Sound

- Select the SFX Button

- Select Compressor and click Add.

- Under Compressor Properties use the following settings

- Gain = Adjust for how loud you want people to be. (I use 15)

- Attack = 0.01

- Release = Around 500

- Threshold = Around -30

- Ratio = 100

- Pre delay = 4.0

What the settings do...

.:Gain:.
How much volume you feed into the compressor. Not really relevant unless everyone is too quiet, then you can turn this up a little; turning it up too much will sound EXTREMELY *%*%ty.

.:Attack:.
How fast volume change will happen. example: setting this to 500 means that anything coming in will only be dropped in volume after a half a second. for vent this should be set as low as possible.

.:Release:.
how fast the compressor stops changing things. not really that relevant with vent, setting it around 500 is good for voice material.

.:Threshold:.
This sets the point where we actually start changing what's coming in. Whereas 0 is the absolute loudest you can have for an input, -60 is super quiet. Average users will probably come in somewhere around -25 to -15, with the occasional few being really quiet, which is why I have this set so low.

.:Ratio:.
How much any sound below the set threshold gets compressed and/or modified in the volume department.
If you still want to hear SOME volume variation then set this lower (2-4)... the higher you set it the closer in volume everyone will be.

.:Pre delay:.
Mostly just deals with processing; with computer and digital processors they can look ahead a few milliseconds to see what needs to be dropped in volume or changed before it actually comes through the speakers. Highest is ideal.
